Richert to Race in Europe
Atlanta, Georgia

Manitoban race car driver, David Richert, has been selected by Volkswagen to represent North America at a race event in Europe.

After a season long battle on track, Richert was able to take care of things off track to win the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup Media Contest.  Richert generated almost twice as much exposure as any other race car driver in the series and earned the respect of many Volkswagen top executives.

A glamorous season ending banquet was held at the exquisite Chateau Elan just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. In front of VIP guests such as Kris Nissen, Volkswagen Motorsport Director and Clark Campbell, VW of America Motorsports Manager, David Richert was announced as the winner of this prestigious honour.

Richert will now race in the final event of the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup in Germany, October 24-26, at the world famous Hockenheimring.  The Polo Cup will be a support race for the massive Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM – German Touring Car) race weekend where attendance figures can reach close to 150,000 spectators.

The 2008 ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup features top young race car drivers from across Europe as well as South Africa and Peru.  Also joining Richert for the trip will be Jetta TDI Cup Champion Josh Hurley.

“This is a huge opportunity and I am thrilled to have been able to prove that I can compete off the track as well as on.  I have received an incredible amount of support from home and the fact that we have pulled this off is an amazing testament to the community we live in.  Representing North America together with Josh will be fantastic.” – David Richert
